Finding the right wedding photographer is as important as finding the right dress or venue – the choice needs to reflect your wedding and how you want to document the day.
Here are a few questions I generally get asked that may help you decide if I will be the right fit for you.

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR ‘STYLE’?
My approach to wedding photography is relaxed, candid and fun! I want to work with you to document all of the moments that are important to you as a couple on your wedding day – what makes you smile, laugh out loud, and even those moment’s you almost cry.
I want you to enjoy your wedding day and not feel like the entire day was a photo-shoot where you just happened to get married. I will be there in the background capturing all the little details and moments so that you can look back on your wedding photos in 10 or 50 years and still remember everything.

CAN WE MEET WITH YOU?
Of course you can! In fact I love to meet couples before they book me, I will be with you for most of your wedding day so it is important that we get along, plus I do love a good excuse to meet people for coffee. (I have a small caffeine problem)
If you are not in the same area and coffee isn’t an option, no problem, that what Skype is for!

WHERE ARE YOU BASED?
I am currently based in Tauranga, New Zealand but will travel all over New Zealand and Worldwide. This year I will also be shooting weddings in Melbourne, Australia and Bali.

DO YOU TRAVEL?
YES, I love to travel and my passport is current so I can go almost everywhere!

HOW DO WE GET THAT AMAZING GOLDEN LIGHT FOR OUR PHOTOS?
Glad you asked! The best time of day for your portraits is generally in the hour or two before sunset, that’s when the light is beautiful and golden. I would generally suggest you have your bridal portraits around this time and your ceremony a couple of hours beforehand.
That being said, it’s also your wedding day, do what you want! I am sure we will find some stunning locations for your portraits no matter what time of day it is.

DO YOU SCOUT LOCATIONS BEFORE THE WEDDING?
Depending on the venue I do try to scout the area in the week or so before your wedding, that way I can find the perfect locations for your portraits before your wedding without you having to worry about it on the day! However sometimes it is easier just to shoot on the fly, you never know what the light might be doing on the day and what beautiful spots we might end up finding!

WHAT HAPPENS IF IT RAINS?
No problem! Then we get out there with umbrellas! Some amazing photos have come from celebrations in unfortunate weather… we won’t let it stand in our way.

DO WE NEED TO FEED YOU ON THE DAY?
Yes please! Especially if I am at your wedding for over 6 hours, I am generally on my feet and moving around the entire time so it is greatly appreciated if you do send a meal my way.

DO YOU HAND OVER HIGH RES IMAGES?
Yes, all my packages come with high resolution images. This means that after your wedding the images are all yours, no watermarks, no hidden agenda. They are yours, print them, share them, put a wall sized canvas up in your home. It’s completely up to you!
I do also offer high quality prints and albums as well, because there really is nothing quite like seeing your photos beautifully printed and hanging in your home.

WHAT DO YOU SHOOT WITH?
I shoot with Canon gear, I have 2 bodies and use a variety of different lenses. I will also always have gear back-ups, flashes and a tripod with me just in case as well!

HOW SOON DO WE GET OUR EDITED PHOTOS AFTER THE DAY?
You can expect some beautifully packaged photography goodness to arrive on your doorstep within 8-12 weeks of your big day.

WHERE CAN I FIND YOUR PRICES?
Check out the investment page for a starting point and for more detailed information contact me and I will send through my pricing.

HOW DO WE LOCK IN OUR BOOKING?
I require a $500 deposit and a signed contract to secure your booking. After that the remaining balance is due 1 month before your wedding date.

TOM + MELISSA

Courtney exceeded our expectations as our wedding photographer. She blew us away by her professionalism, her creativity and how she went above and beyond the call of duty.Meeting Courtney for the first time for our engagement shoot showed us that we had definitely made the right choice in our photographer! We really enjoyed her company as well as her outstanding ability to capture incredible photos in such a non-formal manner. She had a way of making us feel at ease in front of the camera.

Our bridal party and families were also very impressed by Courtney’s relaxed, fun and assertive approach. She captured so many amazing shots in a such a small space of time.We were absolutely thrilled with the photos which she packaged so beautifully for us along with some goodies! It made looking at our photos for the first time such an exciting experience.Courtney’s second photographer was also incredible. They worked together to create a picture story of our day that we will treasure forever!

We rave about Courtney Horwood photography and will continue to recommend her to friends and family in need of a photographer!

SELINA + TIM

We couldn’t recommend Courtney highly enough! She put everyone at ease on the day and managed to capture really beautiful intimate moments of us and our families, as well as our ceremony and reception, without being intrusive.

Meeting us before our wedding really helped us to get to know each other so it was all a bit more relaxing on the day, plus of course she could really get a feel for the style of wedding we were having and the sort of photographs we wanted.I just loved receiving the online slideshow I could share with family and friends (and it has been shared far and wide!) Sitting down to open the final delivery was really special with beautiful attention to detail.

Initially I wasn’t sure if I should get a photographer for our wedding (which we were trying to keep fairly low-key) but I have not regretted it for even the smallest moment – it is so wonderful having the photos to commemorate the day. And we were provided with so many photos it is hard to choose the best!

KAT + MIKEY

When Mikey and I got engaged in 2013 the first thing we decided on was to get married on the east coast of the north island in New Zealand, a place called Waihau Bay. Though very beautiful and a special place to both of us we knew this would pose problems. Being a 3 hour drive from a main center we would have to find people who were ok with traveling to make our special day possible. We were recommended Courtney as the perfect photographer for us by friends.

We met over coffee and tea and hit it off straight away. Courtney was not only ok with traveling for our wedding but actually excited! She offered ideas and listened to ours and put everything into making our wedding memories beautiful works of art. Courtney has a special talent of being bright and bubbly, interacting with the guests but also somehow manages to become invisible to catch people showing their raw emotion. This for me was amazing because she caught Mikey’s face with a smile and tears in his eyes as I walked down the aisle to say “I do”. Courtney documented the day so well making the bridal party work to a schedule but feel relaxed and still have time to enjoy a picnic!

Both Mikey and I would gladly recommend Courtney to anyone wanting to get married. She has the flexibility to work with anyone, the command to work with large groups of people and the talent to make the scenery and people at your wedding day look like they belong in couture magazines.

Thank you so much Courtney! xo

WIKI + RA

When first considering who would be the best person to capture our special day, it was an obvious decision for us to choose Courtney. Months before we were even engaged we had been following her work and were in awe of the magic she had created when photographing weddings and other events. What we realised quite quickly was her ability to capture moments in the most natural way possible, as opposed to being made to pose. That was also something that made us sway towards Courtney.

We could go on all day about what we liked most about Courtney, from the time we met with her for our engagement shoot, right up to our wedding day. Apart from being a down-to-earth, genuine and lovely person, Courtney made us feel comfortable during both of those times. It can be a bit of a daunting and overwhelming experience for some, so having a photographer who makes you feel at ease was really great.

During the time our bridal party went away for our photos not long after the ceremony, it became quite clear that every member of our bridal team warmed to Courtney. They spoke of the relaxed and natural way in which she directed the photo shoot and her friendliness towards each of them as individuals. Because of this, it made everyone feel comfortable and made the experience enjoyable and not to mention hilarious!

When we received our professional photos in the mail, we were amazed. We knew Courtney was going to do a great job, but she had definitely exceeded our expectations. Each and every photo she captured was perfect, to say the least. We couldn’t have asked for better photos. Not only were we so happy about the end product, but we were also surprised at how fast it took for us to receive them.

I cannot recommend Courtney enough to anyone who is looking for a professional photographer to capture their special day. We are positive that anyone who chooses her will feel the same way we do about her and her work.

It’s hard to pick out a favourite part about our day. Every moment was amazing, and being able to look back at our photos every day and reminisce on those moments is something we truly treasure.

We are thankful for Courtney and all that she did for us. She is amazing and professional in all that she does. Thank you for everything, Courtney.

The pictures are beautiful! Court thank you so much for your amazing work. We wanted to be able to look at our wedding pictures and be able to re-live our day…you made this possible. The slide show brought tears to our eyes; we love how you captured everyone’s emotions and every bit of the day.

ANGELA + JOHN

Courtney was a dream wedding photographer. The photos and editing were stunning and of magazine-quality. We loved the way that she was able to manage our wedding guests and family for group photos and made this a fun and efficient process.

The photos of the wedding party were well planned and we always felt natural. Courtney listened to all of our ideas and needs and went beyond our expectations. We received our photos within weeks of returning from our honeymoon and loved every single one.

We would absolutely recommend Courtney for her quality, professionalism, creativity, fun and obvious passion for what she does. Thanks Courtney for helping made our BIG day the BEST DAY EVER!
